The students were the first cohort at Smithills School – then known as Smithills Grammar School. Brian Whittle, one of the organisers said: “We were the first pupils at Smithills Grammar and started at the beginning of the Space Age and The Beatles had only just met. A group of us thought it would be great to get as many of us together to reminisce about our great school days. “The intention is to keep it simple: buy your own drinks, if you like the menu, take it from there.
