Railway ghost stories return as author launches new book at Bolton train station

Retired railway worker and writer Dr Paul Salveson officially launched his new book, The Loco Vanishes – Northern Rail Mysteries, on Wednesday, October 1.
Speaking after the launch, Dr Salveson said he was delighted to finally see the collection in print.
(Image: NewsQuest)The book, which contains 10 stories blending folklore, humour and the supernatural, draws on decades of railway tales and Dr Salveson’s own experiences on the job in the 1970s.
"I can speak on behalf of everyone and say it was fantastic.”The Loco Vanishes – Northern Rail Mysteries has been published by Kents Bank Station Library, a community interest company near Barrow.
Readers who travel by train to the library to buy their copy will receive a £2 discount off the cover price.
