NHS Grampian had one of the highest tallies of data breaches in the UK, a new analysis of watchdog data has revealed. The health board’s total of 24 data breaches, the same number as HMRC, places it sixth-highest out of thousands of organisations across the country. NHS Grampian said its higher total of data breaches was due to a “cautious” approach to data security. However, NHS Grampian denied that the figures showed it had a problem with its approach to data protection, arguing that it takes the issue “extremely seriously”. “The public will be alarmed to learn that so many data breaches have occurred at NHS Grampian,” he added.
