Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson has called for Community Policing Volunteers to be formally recognized and placed on a structured stipend plan, similar to Community Health Promoters (CHPs). Community policing officers or volunteers should now be included in a plan like the CHPs. I believe community policing volunteers should also be appreciated. “We are sure the Interior CS will consider our proposal,” Sakaja added, noting that the initiative would strengthen collaboration between national and county security agencies. If adopted, the proposal could see thousands of community policing volunteers benefit from structured stipends while enhancing grassroots security in Nairobi’s neighborhoods.
