WATSONTOWN — Two Vehicle Code charges have been filed against the driver of a rig carrying 23 tons of stone that struck the Eighth Street overpass over Interstate 180 near Watsontown last Friday.
State police on Thursday charged David Wright, 75, of Muncy with careless driving and height of vehicles.
The dump portion of the trailer part he was driving was elevated, causing it to strike the overpass, state police said.
Design work is underway with a contract for the repairs expected to be advertised in the spring, PennDOT says.
One lane of traffic in each direction, separated by barriers, will be maintained on Eighth Street, the agency said.
