SALISBURY — Domestic violence does not conform to labels. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Salisbury Police Department Victim/Witness Advocate Dr. Alberta McLaughlin is taking the opportunity to raise awareness around community resources and the realities of domestic violence in the community. The organization also helps people work through the process of securing a 50B restraining order, or a domestic violence protective order. McLaughlin also spoke about some of the misconceptions people tend to have about domestic violence and sexual assault. As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, supporters are invited to wear purple on Wednesdays to show solidarity with survivors.
