County eyes open space purchaseBoulder County is eyeing a $1.6 million purchase of land for open space, using funds awarded in a 2021 settlement with Denver Water to mitigate environmental impacts from the expansion of Gross Dam. The $12.5 million settlement with Denver Water provides $5.1 million for the purchase of property, conservation easements and trail corridors. Members of the public can weigh in on the purchase in-person or virtually during the Feb. 27 Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee meeting. Longmont launches speed camera programLongmont will roll out speed and red light cameras throughout the city starting on March 16. Using an automated vehicle identification system approved by city council in 2024, the cameras will enforce speed limits and traffic light infractions.
