Mountain glaciers are disappearingBefore and after photographs always leave a stark impression about the passage of time. They told the story of a glacier, Rocky Mountain National Park’s Taylor Glacier, then and now. Comparing that image with the tragic “after” photo of the Taylor Glacier was a stunning reminder of the span of time we are living in. By continuing to pump carbon into our atmosphere, we are depleting our ice world, the cryosphere. The shrinking Taylor Glacier is just one small-scale example of disappearing mountain glaciers around the globe, half of which are predicted to be gone by 2100.
