This post has been updated to correct the status of Military Sealift Command ships that are being transferred to the Maritime Administration. The Navy is quietly decommissioning ships from the fleet as Fiscal Year 2025 wraps up in less than two weeks. The Navy will decommission two of its aging submarines and six Military Sealift Command support ships, according to the NAVADMIN. Military Sealift Command ships are non-combatants that are manned by mostly civilian crews and provide support to U.S. Navy warships during combat and humanitarian missions. The Navy will begin in April to move three Military Sealift Command roll-on/roll-off ships to the Maritime Administration.
