Washington is looking to set up a military storage facility in the Philippines at the former U.S. naval base at Subic Bay by the summer of 2026, according to new documents. The request follows an April solicitation that sought information for storage facilities within Subic Bay and near the former U.S. Air Force base at Clark. The location of the storage facility is slated to be within 10 miles of the Marine Corps’ prepositioning program site, which is situated in a 57,000-square-foot warehouse at the former Subic Bay Naval Supply Depot. During the Cold War, Subic Bay and Clark hosted large contingents of American forces and supported operations throughout the Pacific. While the site of the envisioned leased storage facility is unclear, the Subic Bay Freeport Zone is home to numerous warehouses and former base facilities.
