Orange County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday for a slight decrease in property taxes for 2026 in what County Judge John Gothia described as the lowest rate in years. The new tax rate will be 49.3 cents per $100 of property valuation, as set by the Orange County Appraisal District. The current county property tax rate is 51 cents per $100 valuation. However, whether a property owner sees a small decrease in county taxes will depend on whether the property's appraised value went up or stayed the same. He said perhaps someone will file to run when the appraisal district election is held this coming May.
