The Celebration of Life for Gloria Jean Carter, 87, of Orange, will be Saturday, September 13, at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:00 am, under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. Gloria Jean Allen Carter was born to Ideria (Nash) Allen and Willie Allen, Sr. on July 19, 1938, in San Augustine. Gloria attended Emma H. Wallace High School, graduating in the Class of 1960. She leaves to cherish her loving memory five sons, Vaughn Allen and Darrell Carter of Houston, Karl Allen and Quencilyn Carter (Kimberly) both of Orange and Tony Carter of Dallas; daughter, Shelia Carter McCoy (Paul) of Houston; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; brother, Walter G. Allen of Houston; sister, Margie Degay (James) of Orange, and two God-children, Ronald Jason Degay and Ronald Jeremaine Degay, both of Orange. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Willie G. Allen, Clinton and Clyde Allen (fraternal twins), Thearon Allen and Sherman Allen, and three sisters, Lucinda Allen, Lee Fairy Allen and Verlie Allen.
