Just two months ago, University of Iowa Health Care opened its new orthopedic-focused hospital in North Liberty. Dr. Marsh officially became department chair in 2014 after joining the health system in 1987. He spent 15 years as the department’s residency program director before becoming chair and led surgical services at UIHC for six years. He will step down from his post in January, but “plans to remain active in clinical coverage at some capacity,” officials with the university told The Gazette. UI’s new 469,000-square-foot orthopedic hospital, which opened in April, provides spine, orthopedic, sports medicine care and more for patients in eastern Iowa and beyond.
