This Government claim they are not anti-Māori or anti-Treaty yet almost every single month there is a new needless attack on Māori. This time it is Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith’s threat to remove tikanga Māori from court rulings??? Tikanga Māori inside our Court system is a strength and a protection, it’s not a weakness! As this Government continues to open NZ up for foreign investment/exploitation, they are finding Court rulings that favour indigenous rights are making that investment/exploitation less attractive, hence the Justice Minister threatening to remove those rulings altogether to make that investment/exploitation by foreign corporations more appealing. Tikanga Māori isn’t a ‘bespoke’ law that simply benefits Māori, it protects all the interests of Kiwis living here, it is a way of ensuring we aren’t robbed blind by foreign corporations, what Minister Goldsmith is pushing for is a Quisling Capitalism that opens the nation up to be exploited.
