The Regional District of Central Kootenay and the Canadian Union of Public Employees have ratified a new three-year collective agreement. The deal with Locals 748 and 2264 is retroactive to March 1, 2024 and runs until Feb. 28, 2027. It includes general wage increases of 6.2 per cent in 2024, 3.9 per cent in 2025, and 3.4 per cent in 2026. The agreement includes some of the RDCK’s recreation facility workers in Castlegar, Creston and Nelson and gate attendants at landfills and transfer stations, but it wasn’t immediately known how many members the two locals represent.
