A Mexican illegal immigrant pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in Bangor on Tuesday to illegally re-entering the country following a deportation. According to court records, Amateco-Navarrette admitted during that stop that he is a Mexican citizen and that he was in the U.S. illegally. On the same day Amateco-Navarrette pleaded guilty, an illegal immigrant from Spain was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor for the same crime. Jose Angel Hidalgo-Torres, 20, pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry on August 12, 2025, after he was found in Calais shortly after entering the country on July 18.
