October 2, 2025RED FM News DeskAlberta has confirmed its first measles-related death of 2025—a premature baby who passed away shortly after birth.
The infant’s mother had contracted measles during pregnancy, leading to complications that resulted in the early delivery and subsequent death of the child.
LaGrange highlighted that measles infection during pregnancy can lead to serious outcomes such as miscarriage, preterm birth, stillbirth, or infection in the newborn.
Between January 1 and September 27, Alberta has recorded 1,910 confirmed measles cases.
