CLOUD — A St.
Cloud man who said that "God told him he needed to kill someone" was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, Oct. 2, for the 2018 murder of a St.
Stearns County Judge Nathaniel Welte on Thursday sentenced Kenning to life in prison without the chance of release.
Kenning told investigators that “God told him he needed to kill someone and he would be able to resurrect that person.” A month later, he was indicted by a grand jury on first- and second-degree murder charges.
“In short, this is one of the most horrendous things I have seen in my practice,” Welte told Kenning.
