Police confirmed 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, as the suspect who killed two people and left four others injured following the attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in north Manchester on Thursday morning.
Al-Shamie, who was armed with a knife and a suspected explosive device, was shot dead seven minutes after the ramming and knife attack began.
An investigation of the scene later determined the device he was carrying was not an explosive.
