WORCESTERSHIRE is set to receive almost £2.5million towards delivering faster and more reliable travel across the county thanks to the Government’s Local Transport Grant. The Government’s Department for Transport has announced an additional £104million to improve transport across the country, with Worcestershire receiving just over £2.46m. This £104m funding package is part of the Local Transport Grant, a £2.3bn central Government investment to support local transport connections, with this share focusing on rural communities outside England’s major cities. Funding also aims to ensure councils can manage the delivery of projects that improve journeys to work, shops, and essential services across towns and rural areas. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said: “Good transport connections are the foundation of thriving communities, which is why we’re backing local authorities to transform journeys for millions of people across England.
