Oct 02, 2025Dwayne PageThe first candidate to formally announce a bid for a seat on the county commission in 2026 has come forth. Ronnie Goodwin of Smithville, plans to seek the nomination for one of two positions on the commission from District 3 in the May 2026 DeKalb County Democratic Primary. The DeKalb County Commission is made up of 14 members, two from each of the seven districts. Both the Democratic and Republican parties plan to have primaries in May 2026 and nominees along with any independents will face off in the August 2026 DeKalb County General Election. There are many things DeKalb County citizens need and want but not this and 85% of us said so in last year’s referendum”.
