State Rep. Regina Young, D-185, Philadelphia, chaired a hearing of the House Tourism Committee Thursday on bipartisan legislation she introduced earlier this year that would mandate training for lodging employees to spot signs of human trafficking. According to a release from her office Thursday, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts in January 2025 recorded 1,235 human trafficking offenses filed across 366 cases in the state between 2020 and 2024. “… Employees who complete this training are 80% more likely to recognize and report signs of trafficking. “Since I’ve been a legislator, I’ve been working to end human trafficking,” she said. We can end human trafficking through education and speaking up for these most vulnerable victims.”
