COLLEAGUES across opticians in Worcestershire are donning coordinated denim in support of a campaign to raise funds and awareness of genetic disorders. The teams at locally owned and run Specsavers stores in Droitwich, Kidderminster and Stourport will all be donating to dress in their best denim attire for the Jeans for Genes campaign run by Genetic Disorders UK. As part of the campaign, store staff will be carrying out specs adjustments and check-ups in exchange for a donation from customers over the next few days (September 18 to 21). “Jeans for Genes Week is a brilliant opportunity to do just that – it’s a simple idea that has such a big impact. There are an estimated 6,000 genetic disorders, and one in 25 children in the UK are affected, with 30,000 babies and children diagnosed each year.
