Boy, 10, facing felony over alleged knife threat

The arrest of the 10-year-old boy, whom the Palatka Daily News will not be naming, took place Thursday, with him being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, a third-degree felony, according to a Facebook post from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the Browning-Pearce Elementary School student made the threat Wednesday shortly before showing the victim the knife.
“He will face potential consequences for violating school district policies.
That Sept. 19, 2024, occurrence was one in a string of arrests involving students throughout the Putnam County School District making violent threats involving weapons toward local schools.
In Thursday’s statement, Sheriff Gator DeLoach said he and his employees have seen a decrease in weapons threats lobbed at school facilities.
