MOORHEAD — Federal agencies on Tuesday, Sept. 30, accused Minnesota of violating federal Title IX laws by allowing transgender athletes to participate in women's sports. The MSHSL and MDE have 10 days to voluntarily resolve their Title IX violations or “risk imminent enforcement action,” according to the release. South Dakota and Montana have passed similar legislation barring transgender (assigned male at birth) athletes from competing in women’s sports. "Once an education program or entity takes federal funds, Title IX compliance becomes mandatory. And the federal government will hold Minnesota accountable until it recognizes that fact.”
