If you’re new to the city, it’s worth strolling its neighborhoods to study up on all the history within your line of sights: A single cobblestone street can encompass a hodgepodge of different architectural styles, including Georgian, Art Deco, Italianate, Victorian, Federal, Classic Revival, and Gothic Revival. Rainbow Row—a block of colorful historic homes in the downtown neighborhood—may be at the top of your itinerary, but even Charleston’s less touristy streets have a lot to marvel at. Charleston’s cobblestone streets are best explored with an appetite (Husk is a must-try, as is Chubby Fish), but between the fully stocked kitchen and picturesque outdoor dining area, you’ll be tempted to spend at least one evening prepping food on the property.
