Their members hail from Alaska to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and from Jackson, Mississippi, to the Gulf South. It is the collective contending with those decision points, say energy democracy activists, that define energy democracy. But grassroots activists on the ground are building models of the kind of renewable, affordable, interconnected, community-governed energy systems needed for energy democracy.
