The science fiction subgenre known for its utopian and liberation themes has become a vehicle for Black women artists. Now, the most popular names in Afrofuturism are women, and they seem to be reshaping the entire genre. Those inner lives and experiences of Black women are still largely uncharted for the entertainment public. For Black women in the audience, it’s an opportunity to finally be seen and represented in mediums the way we feel inside. She has been writing for more than 15 years on topics exploring the intersection of pop culture, identity, education, parenting, and how those relationships affect our lives as parents, women, Black women, nerds, and people of this planet.
