KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, US — Farmers are planting winter wheat for harvest in 2026.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), in its weekly report updating crop progress and conditions, said winter wheat was 11% planted, more than doubling 5% as the progress a week earlier.
Hard red winter and white wheat states were furthest along.
“Commodity prices and elevated input prices and what that might mean to the price of wheat and weighing on what the ultimate planted acres ends up being.”Soft red winter wheat states were in the early stages of planting.
In the primary hard white winter wheat states seeding progress was 50% in Washington (42% as the average), 13% in Oregon (9%) and 12% in Idaho (14%).
