Moorpark College held a remembrance ceremony on campus Sept. 11 to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks and to recognize the courage of first responders. This year marked 24 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93. Julius Sokenu, president of Moorpark College, reflected on the enduring impact of 9/11, saying the events are not just history, but a lived experience that shaped the nation and individuals alike. He also encouraged attendees to consider ways they can serve their communities, aligning with the National Day of Service held each Sept. 11. John Everlove, allied health coordinator at Moorpark College, and Ventura Community College District Trustee Joe Piechowski also addressed the audience.
