A Haven Middle School student riding a bicycle was hit by a car in the crosswalk crossing the intersection of Prairie and North McCormick Boulevard on Monday morning. Principal Chris Latting and assistant principal Thomas Smith informed the Haven community in an email to families following the incident. Ryan Glew told the Evanston RoundTable that the student sustained a wrist injury before being transported to a local hospital accompanied by their caregiver. “We are grateful to the first responders, staff, and community members who acted quickly and compassionately in response to this crisis,” Latting and Smith wrote. The driver was issued a citation on the scene and released.
