Gardensstaff found their swan, Horatio, dead on the morning of November 1. “He wascrazy and mean,” says gardener Tracy Jessen, who was often attacked bythe swan while feeding him. “He could definitely draw blood.”This is the second fowl death in the gardens’ this year—MommaGoose died in August. “It’s going to be pretty quiet down there without a goose or swan tofeed,” says gardener Dave McLearn. Jessen wouldlike to see more wildlife, which could be attracted to the gardensusing bird feeders.
