FIRE SAFETY - Worcestershire residents warned to get chimneys swept before the cold weather sets in
[]
The Bromsgrove Standard
RESIDENTS across Worcestershire who have working chimneys in their homes for open fires and log burners are being reminded to get them swept by an approved sweep before the cold weather sets in.
The warning has been issued by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service during Chimney Fire Safety Week which began on Monday and runs until the following one (September 1 to 8).
The awareness week is part of the Government’s Fire Kills campaign and highlights how getting chimneys swept prevents damage, lowers fuel costs, reduces harmful emissions and protects the environment.
And the fire service encourages everyone to pass this safety message on to others to help spread the word.
Anyone who thinks they may qualify for a free Home Fire Safety visit can call the HWFRS Prevention team on 0800 032 1155.
