NEW weekly walking football sessions for people living with Parkinson’s have been launched by Alvechurch Football Club’s community foundation, writes Isabel Matthews. The club has introduced the new Parkinson’s walking football centre in partnership with the Northfield Network scheme and is aiming to provide fun, inclusive and low impact walking football sessions, run by FA qualified coaches. The sessions – for people living with Parkinson’s disease – take place from 4pm to 5pm every Monday at The Hayes, Redhill Road, Kings Norton. The foundation ambassador for the Parkinson’s programme and former England U21 manager, Aidy Boothroyd, will be at the sessions across the year to help out with coaching and playing.
