Global Capacity Centers, also known as captives, are now hiring more technology professionals in India than traditional IT services firms, according to Info Edge, the parent company of job portal Naukri. The company reported a 17% year-on-year increase in billings from GCCs, even as demand from IT service providers slowed in the most recent quarter. Their growing momentum echoes the Indian government’s 2024 Economic Survey, which projected that GCCs could contribute 3.5% to India’s GDP by 2030, generating revenues of $121 billion annually. Info Edge CEO Hitesh Oberoi noted that while some IT services firms continue to add staff, it is GCCs that are aggressively expanding hiring. This trend aligns with a June study by talent solutions firm ANSR, which forecast that small and mid-sized GCCs will create 40,000 new jobs in India by 2026, taking their combined workforce beyond 260,000 employees.
