Warning to drivers as 200-tonne load heading to site near York

The supergrid transformer – a large electrical device used in substations to convert electricity into a higher or lower voltage – will be delivered to the Overton Substation, off Overton Road, north west of York, on Sunday (October 5).
It will leave Teesport Docks in Middlesbrough at 7am with a police escort and follow a route along the A174 then take the A19 south.
The piece of equipment is expected to arrive in Overton between 11.45am and 12.15pm.
The final supergrid transformer is expected to be delivered from Teesport Docks to the Overton Substation on Sunday, October 26.
“The delivery route will follow the A19, through villages including Birdforth, Thormanby and Shipton by Beningbrough before turning onto Overton Road,” a spokesperson said.
