The fatal incident happened as Jewish people observed the holiest day in their religious calendar – Yom Kippur – on Thursday (October 2). The attack - which took place outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, this morning - has since been declared a terrorist incident, with two people – and a suspect shot by police – pronounced dead. “My thoughts are also with the Jewish community here in York, and I stand firmly with them in the midst of this heinous attack.
