Kelly Ade, a Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) nurse and first-year student in the Family Nurse Practitioner Master’s program, is among 12 recipients in the first class of the SUNY Healthcare Educator Scholarship. The pilot program aims to provide financial assistance to registered nurses either enrolled in or accepted into a SUNY master’s program for nursing up to $25,000 per academic year. In return, those awarded must find a faculty position at a SUNY associate-level nursing program within three months and remain in that position for three years. Ade also shared program’s teaching requirement aligned with her interest in becoming a nursing instructor after she completes her master’s degree. However, she credits her professors for motivating and inspiring her, helping her stay committed to pursue her nursing career.
