The Nigerian Immigration personnel attached to the Joint Task Force (JTF) operations in Kai, Maiduguri, Borno State, have accused their commanders of diverting feeding allowances meant for them, leaving hundreds of officers with only one inadequate meal a day. According to the officers, the arrangement is for their commanders to handle feeding, just as in the Army, but the scheme has become an avenue for embezzlement. “We only get food once a day, and yesterday it came around 4:09 p.m. That was our first and only meal,” one officer told SaharaReporters. Many of our colleagues have already withdrawn from the operation due to the poor leadership,” one officer revealed. SaharaReporters obtained a photograph of the food served to the officers on Tuesday, showing a small, watery portion with no visible protein.
