Dr Dave Burtle, consultant in anaesthesia and critical care and clinical lead for organ donation at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, said: "I would urge everyone who supports organ donation to register their decision and make it clear that it’s what you want should the worst happen. Anthony Clarkson, director of organ donation and transplantation at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: "Someone will die today waiting for an organ transplant. "By confirming your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register, you could save or transform up to nine lives." The need for donors remains high, with the transplant waiting list reaching a record 8,000 people earlier this year – including 95 people in Bradford. NHS Blood and Transplant is encouraging people to take two minutes to register their decision and potentially help save lives.
