A terrorist was shot dead by police after killing two people in a car and knife attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, Greater Manchester. It came as the Jewish community marked the holiest day in the Jewish calendar – Yom Kippur –and Watford's police force have confirmed they are taking extra precautions to reassure residents. "Officers were already conducting additional patrols today to provide reassurance during Yom Kippur and there continues to be an increased police presence around synagogues in the county. Greater Manchester Police said two members of the Jewish community died and four other people remain in hospital in a serious condition following the attack. The force confirmed the suspect’s death a few hours after shots were fired by armed police at 9.38am.
