I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of the murdered victims of today’s heinous attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Manchester. The massive rise in antisemitic activity that has taken place in recent years has culminated in today’s slaughter of innocent Jews going to shul on Yom Kippur. It is vital that we appreciate the underlying cause, and that is the failure of both this Labour government and its Conservative predecessor to take the threat of Jew hatred seriously. Hate marches under the farcical slogan of “Free Palestine” have been allowed to take place almost every week throughout the country, with the police mostly standing and watching, taking no action.
