More U.S. visitors entered Canada in July than Canadians returned from the U.S.

September 23, 2025RED FM News DeskFor only the second time in nearly 20 years—excluding the pandemic period—Canada saw more U.S. residents visiting than Canadian residents returning from the United States, according to Statistics Canada. The shift appears to be driven in part by a decline in Canadian travel to the U.S., as Canadians respond to U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods introduced under President Donald Trump’s administration. In contrast, trips to Canada by U.S. residents were down just 3.0%, reaching nearly 3.3 million. Meanwhile, international travel to Canada from overseas visitors rose by 10.3% compared to July of last year. Additionally, Canadians returning from overseas trips in July increased by 8.3% compared to the same month in the previous year.
