Bhubaneswar: Train services were disrupted on Rayagada-Visakhapatnam section as large boulders and mud damaged railway tracks following a landslide, triggered by heavy rain, on Thursday.
According to sources, the landslide occurred near Goddess Majhighariani temple in Odisha’s Rayagada district, leading to a breach in the rail tracks.
Notably, the Deep Depression over the Bay of Bengal has triggered very heavy rain in Odisha.
The IMD has issued a red warning for the districts of Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Ganjam, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.
Accumulated rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours, ending 5.30 pm, is as follows: Parlekhemundi (Gajapati) 101 mm, Koraput (Koraput) 63.6 mm, Daringbadi (Kandhamal) 46.0 mm, Nabarangpur (Nabarangpur) 42.2 mm.
