Bhubaneswar: The Deep Depression over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal crossed Odisha coast close to Gopalpur at around 5 pm on Thursday with maximum sustained wind speed of 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph.
The national forecaster had warned of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning and gusty wind speed 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph at many places in Balangir and Nuapada till 8.40 pm.
Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph may occur in these districts till Friday morning.
On October 3, heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may continue in Sundargarh district.
Isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
