Digvijay to discuss matter with NC leadershipSrinagar, Oct 2: The Congress Party is likely to stake its claim for one of the three Rajya Sabha seats scheduled for election on October 24, with veteran leader Digvijay Singh set to discuss the matter with the National Conference (NC) leadership.
Highly placed sources said that Digvijay Singh, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, is expected to hold talks with NC leadership to seek one of the three seats for Congress that the coalition is poised to win.
Singh was entrusted by the Congress high command in April this year to oversee the functioning of, and engage in discussions regarding, the INC-NC coalition partnership in J&K.
In the Rajya Sabha polls, the NC-Congress alliance is expected to comfortably secure three of the four seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is strongly positioned to win the remaining seat.
The non-BJP opposition bloc comprises seven legislators-three from the PDP, one each from the PC and AAP, and two independents.
