Atiku Says He Will Quit Presidential Race If Defeated By Younger Candidate In ADC Primary

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he will not insist on contesting the 2027 presidential election if a younger aspirant emerges victorious at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary. Atiku, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, explained during an interview that his current focus is not on his personal ambition but on building a united opposition under the ADC. He noted that the party gives space to youths and women, and that if a younger politician defeats him in the primary, he would step aside without resistance. Atiku stressed that he has no plans to maintain dual loyalties between the PDP and the ADC, insisting that once he takes a political path, he remains committed to it.
