A terrorist was shot dead by police on Thursday after killing two people in a car and knife attack outside a synagogue in Crumpsall on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. Council leaders of all six districts, city and the county council in Oxfordshire have released a joint statement. They said: "We want to express our shared shock and horror at the terrorist incident that took place at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester today. "We are horrified that on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Manchester's Jewish community - and by extension the wider Jewish community - has been targeted with this act of violence. "We also want to express our appreciation of colleagues at Manchester's emergency services and the local council for their swift response.
