The Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BATT) has announced the appointment of President & Managing Director of Republic Bank Limited, Nigel Baptiste, as its new President, effective August 14, 2025. Baptiste succeeds Managing Director of Scotiabank, Gayle Pazos, and will serve a two-year term from 2025 to 2027. He previously held the position of President of BATT and has worked in the banking sector for more than three decades. Baptiste is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Master of Science in Economics. BATT said it is confident that Baptiste will continue to strengthen the financial sector and contribute to national economic growth.
