‌Richard Blackmore, a warranty administrator at City West Country in Exeter, will join three teammates in the Atlantic Dash – the world’s longest organised ocean rowing race – to raise over £100,000 for Parkinson’s UK and Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support. ‌The four-man team, named Sea Change Atlantic, is made up of Richard Blackmore, Adam Benjamin, David ‘Maddie’ Pyle and Simon Burke – all of whom come from a Cornish gig rowing background. The team will set off from Rubicon Marina in Lanzarote and finish in Jolly Harbour, Antigua, covering 3,200 miles of treacherous ocean in early 2027. Richard said: “The idea started in February when Adam, who I know through Cornish gig rowing, said ‘I have this mad idea… are you interested? ‌The team now needs to raise the final £40,000 for essential equipment.
